Analysis of discursive practices of constructing the identity of Russians showed that there is a struggle between different concepts of Russia’s historical path in the modern Russian media discourse. On the one hand, the practices of constructing the history of Russia as a continuous and heroic are widely used. On the other hand, the practices of describing the Russian history as a complex, nonlinear process that requires comprehension of historical defeats, delusions, and crimes are revealed.
